FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Is 4D Ultrasound safe for me and my baby?
Baby's First Image ultrasound machine is safe for both mother and baby. Our state-of-the-art technology uses the EXACT same ultrasound waves used in a traditional 2D scan at your doctor's office. The only difference is that our
GE Voluson 730 EXPERT ultrasound machine and software simply process the information differently in order to provide us with spectacular 3D images and 4D video.

---------------
When is the best time for a 4D ultrasound scan?

The best time to do the scan is really anytime after 16 weeks—it depends on what expectant parents want to see.  You may be excited to find out if you are having a baby boy or girl or just curious on what baby looks like.  Baby’s First Image can give you the delightful news as early as 16 weeks.  After 27 weeks, baby has a cute little face and its features are pretty set in.  Baby’s First Image recommends the best time to see baby’s feature in more detail is between 27-32 weeks.  For those expectant parents who want to see baby more than once—Baby’s First Image allows you to see baby as often as you like up until 38th week for a discounted price!  Once you are a Baby’s First Image client, we welcome you to our family and share your little “celebrity” with us over and over again!
---------------
How much does a 4D ultrasound scan cost?

At Baby’s First Image, we are thrilled to show families this 4D technology.  We make it affordable for everyone—sessions start at only $75!  We do not charge anything extra to see baby in 3D/4D. We offer discounts for military personnel, teachers, firemen, & law enforcement!  Gift certificates can be purchased over the phone! Ask about our “Baby Registry”.
---------------
How many people can we invite to see baby?
At Baby's First Image, it is all about you.  We welcome you to invite family members and closest friends to enjoy this once in a lifetime event with you!  We can comfortably accommodate 8 to 10 people in our specially designed viewing room!  We have had up to 18 guests in one session!  In fact, we encourage our clients to invite family and friends to attend the elective 4D Ultrasound session. This is a joyous and wonderful experience, one that can be shared with your family and loved ones. Our seating is specifically arranged so that everyone in your party will have an excellent view of our large 100-inch screen along with 20” monitors.
---------------
What is an elective prenatal Ultrasound?
We offer elective 2D, 3D & 4D prenatal Ultrasounds to provide a positive bonding experience for the mother, father and family members with the unborn baby. We feel that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family. We make no claims that 3D used in this session is performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities. A routine Ultrasound examination should have already been performed to assess the gestational age of the fetus and to evaluate for fetal anomalies as well as the basic components of fetal anatomy recommended for screening with your physician.
---------------
Is the 4D Ultrasound covered by Insurance?
At this point, insurance does not cover the costs of our Ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered Ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of this Ultrasound as an out of pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, and debit cards.
---------------
What kind of Ultrasound equipment do you use to perform the 4D Ultrasounds?
We use the state of the art GE Voluson 730 EXPERT to complete all Ultrasound examinations. The GE Voluson 730 EXPERT has been seen in GE television commercials and many printed articles from around the world. This machine is the BEST 2D, 3D and 4D Ultrasound machine available. Please note, many organizations claim to use "state-of-the-art" equipment, when in fact they use older or inferior technology. Only the GE Voluson 730 EXPERT generates D images with amazing clarity and gives you the same clarity with 4D imagery of your baby in motion. Our sonogram equipment allows you to see your baby in live motion video unlike any other on the market today.
---------------
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services.  Conveniently, we have same day appointments and flexible hours.
---------------
Are you able to tell the gender of the baby?
Yes!  This is an exciting time of your life; we ask that you are at least 16 weeks in gestation. We can't however guarantee that the baby will cooperate during your session. Certain factors such as hydration, body tissue content, developmental stage and fetal position all affect the ability to determine gender.  If baby is uncooperative, we will ask you to return at your convenience with no extra charge!.
---------------
How long does the 4D Ultrasound take?
Depending on the session you choose, the 4D Ultrasound session will last between 10 and 30 minutes. Approximate total time in office is up to 45 minutes.
---------------
Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?
Depending on the position of the baby and placenta location, it may be difficult to obtain a full facial image. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking face down, i.e. towards your spine it may be difficult to see the baby's face. If this happens, a complimentary 2nd visit may be offered to obtain a better image. We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our facility or that we can always meet everyone's expectations.  Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother's condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.  It helps to hydrate at least one day before your scheduled session—this will help build up your amniotic fluid.  As an added bonus, when time permits, our images may be enhanced for more detail by our technologists at no extra cost!

*Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with Baby's First Image must be under the care of a prenatal care provider.
The ultrasound session performed in Baby's First Image is a non-diagnostic and non-medical scan.
At no time, it should not be confused with or used in placed of a diagnostic ultrasound.
